SUSTAINABLE HALAL SUPPLY CHAIN PERFORMANCE IN ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL AGRIBUSINESS: THE ROLE OF HALAL INTEGRITY, TECHNOLOGY, AND MARKETING

Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the influence of factors such as halal integrity, technology adoption, marketing capabilities, and other variables on the sustainable performance of halal supply chains within the context of agribusiness enterprises managed by Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia.  A quantitative study employing a case study approach and data analysis using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine the relationships between variables affecting halal supply chain performance. Halal integrity and technology adoption have a positive and significant impact on sustainable halal supply chain performance, with marketing capabilities showing the strongest influence. Conversely, sustainability practices and entrepreneurial capabilities do not exhibit significant effects in this context. Emphasizing halal integrity, accelerating technology adoption, and strengthening marketing capabilities are essential strategies for enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of halal businesses based in pesantren. The study also highlights the importance of integrating sustainability and entrepreneurial practices for long-term growth aligned with Islamic values. This study provides new insights into the key factors influencing sustainable halal supply chains in the agribusiness sector managed by pesantren in Indonesia, particularly focusing on the integration of Islamic values and modern technologies. It underscores the role of pesantren as centers of economic and educational development, contributing original perspectives to the halal supply chain literature.
