LEVERAGING CHATGPT TO ENHANCE TEACHING AND LEARNING IN POLITICAL THEORY: EVIDENCE FROM UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Abstract
With the aim of comprehensively analyzing and evaluating the advantages and challenges in the process of integrating the artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT into the teaching and learning activities of political theory subjects, the research team conducted a practical survey at the University. In light of the digital transformation of higher education, this study focuses on using ChatGPT as a pedagogical collaborative tool. First- and second-year students enrolled in foundational political hypothesis courses, as well as the full-time, part-time, and visiting instructors who instruct these courses directly, are the subjects of the study. Data were collected through sociological surveys, pedagogical observations, and in-depth interviews to ensure reliability and scientific value in the analysis of the current situation. The results show that ChatGPT is highly rated by students because of its timeliness in providing information, ability to explain concepts, and support for self-learning; moreover, instructors recognize ChatGPT's potential in lesson design, creating open-ended questions, and supporting classroom debates. However, currently, the application of AI in education still faces many challenges, such as the accuracy of information and the suitability of AI integration. integrated AI. Therefore, in this study, our group proposes several criteria for applying AI in teaching political science, such as enhancing the AI capabilities of lecturers and students. These recommendations are expected to contribute to the process of innovating teaching methods while also enhancing the quality of training in political theory subjects in the context of the current digital transformation in higher education.
