INVESTIGATING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PROJECT MANAGEMENT MATURITY, ECONOMIC COMPETENCE AND DIGITAL MATURITY TO GAIN PROJECT MANAGEMENT EFFECTIVENESS IN THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS

Abstract

In this study, project management maturity, financial literacy and digital maturity are explored for how they influence project management effectiveness in the telecom sector. More specifically, the study examines the relationship between project management maturity and project management effectiveness; financial literacy and project management effectiveness; and digital maturity and project management effectiveness. To test the proposed conceptual framework, a quantitative research approach was used. Independent variables were project management maturity, financial literacy, and digital maturity and the dependent variable was project management effectiveness. The data was gathered from project manager, team leaders, and project professionals in the telecom sector by using a structured online questionnaire, which had a seven-point Likert scale. Collected data were analyzed by using the software Smart-PLS by means of SEM-PLS (Partial Least Squares technique) method. Measurement model assessment, which mainly involved tests for convergent and discriminant validity and reliability, was followed by the evaluation of the structural model using path coefficient analysis to test significance of the hypothesized relationships, and by bootstrapping. Based on the findings, it can be seen that the impact of project management maturity on project management effectiveness is very significant. Similarly, financial literacy has a positive impact on project management effectiveness because of the informed decision-making process that will result from this financial literacy, and the efficient allocation of the resources available to the project. Furthermore, digital maturity is positively and significantly correlated with project management effectiveness due to improved collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and project execution. The findings stress the need for the use of organizational project management capabilities, financial competence, and digital technologies to enhance the outcome of projects in the telecommunications industry.
