WASTE MANAGEMENT - COST AND ECONOMICAL STUDY FOR GREEN CONCRETE USING WASTE CONCRETE FROM OLD BUILDINGS AND WASTE GLASS: CASE STUDY IN IRAQ
Abstract
Waste management is very important issue to have more clean environment ,decreasing environmental pollution . One of the ways to dispose of waste materials is use it as aggregate in concrete to have green concrete . This research aims to use waste materials to have good quality concrete and lower in cost compared with conventional concrete by using waste concrete from old concrete buildings as coarse aggregate and also waste glass . study show that using waste concrete from old buildings increasing compressive strength of new green concrete and decreases the total cost of concrete , total replacement of coarse aggregate give about 21% decrement in cost for one cubic meter of concrete . Waste glass concrete show 22.5% decrement in cost , strength of concrete increase slightly by using waste concrete and decrease slightly by using waste glass in this case study in Iraq .
