DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF SMART-BASED CHARACTER LEARNING E-MODULES TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ UNDERSTANDING IN EDUCATIONAL PROFESSION COURSES
Abstract
This study aimed to develop and examine the effectiveness of an e-module for educational profession through SMART-based Character Learning. The development process employed the ADDIE instructional design framework, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. Learner needs and learning gaps were identified during the analysis stage through interviews and document analysis. The design stage focused on formulating SMART-based learning objectives, selecting appropriate learning strategies, and organizing the e-module structure. The development stage involved expert validation by material and media specialist, followed by revisions based on their recommendations. The validated e-module was implemented in a small-scale trial involving 12 university students. Data were collected using expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test instruments. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using a paired-sample t-test within a one-group pre-test-post-test design after data normality was confirmed using the Shapiro-Wilk test. The results showed that the e-module achieved a very high validity level (95,12%) and received very positive response from students. Furthermore, a significant improvement in post-test scores compared to pre-test scores (sig. < 0.05) was observed, indicating the effectiveness of the e-module in improving students’ understanding of educational profession concepts. Overall, the findings demonstrate that the developed e-module is valid, practical, and effective for supporting educational learning in higher education.
