EXPLORING BEHAVIOURS AND BARRIER OF STUDENTS' ENTREPRENEURIAL ACTION AFTER AN ACTION LEARNING PROGRAM: PRELIMINARY STUDY

Abstract

This study focuses on exploring behaviour and barrier after entrepreneurial action in students at a university in West Java, Indonesia, to maintain student entrepreneurs after entrepreneurial programs. Sustained entrepreneurial action is critical, as many student-led ventures fail to continue once academic support and structured learning environments are removed. A qualitative method was used, and data collection was carried out with a semi-structured interview guide on nine students. This study prioritises students who have completed the Independence Entrepreneurial Program (WMK) in 2024 at a university in West Java. The program was organised for students through a series of action learning programs, become a concrete experience where students can work in groups to build a business. The results confirm that behaviour characterized students' entrepreneurial action in the action learning program at West Java University of Indonesia supports behaviour based on McClelland’s theory. The three important dimensions are achievement, planning, and power. In addition to find behaviours outside McClelland's behavioural character, some behaviours contributed, including creativity and innovation, social support, and collaboration. This study provides barriers to maintain implementation of entrepreneurial actions after completing action learning, from group to individual actions. Previous research on entrepreneurial action concentrates on quantitative methods. This article broadens the qualitative methods used by students in university, especially after an action learning program. Moreover, it makes important contributions to theoretical building and entrepreneurial performance as tangible capital for students nascent.
