FACTORS AFFECTING THE QUALITY OF FINANCIAL STATEMENT PRESENTATION OF LISTED CONSTRUCTION ENTERPRISES ON THE VIETNAMESE STOCK MARKET
Abstract
The quality of financial statement presentation plays an important role in providing useful, transparent, and reliable information to investors, creditors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders. Particularly for listed construction enterprises, characteristics relating to asset size, ownership structure, governance activities, and audit quality may create significant differences in the preparation and presentation of financial statements. This study is conducted to identify and assess the effects of five factors, namely firm size (SIZE), operating performance (OP), ownership ratio (OWN), corporate governance (CG), and audit quality (AQ), on financial reporting presentation quality (FRPQ) among listed construction enterprises on the Vietnamese stock market. The research model is developed by synthesizing prior studies and is tested using the PLS-SEM structural equation modeling method with SPSS and AMOS software. The study surveys 63 listed construction enterprises and uses measurement scales to assess the research constructs. The PLS-SEM results show that SIZE, OWN, and CG have statistically significant effects on FRPQ, with coefficients of -0.250, -0.316, and -0.349, respectively (p < 0.001), whereas OP has no statistically significant effect (β = -0.046; p = 0.170) and AQ likewise has no statistically significant effect (β = 0.026; p = 0.531). The findings provide empirical evidence on the factors affecting the quality of financial statement presentation and offer a basis for enterprises and relevant stakeholders to enhance transparency and the quality of financial information.
