GREEN HYDROGEN UTILIZATION MODEL IN A JUST ENERGY TRANSITION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE QUR'AN

Abstract

The primary goal of this study, from the perspective of the Qur'an, is to look at options for handling an equitable energy transition to solve environmental challenges. This paper employs a qualitative methodology, concentrating on the strategic position of new renewable energy, particularly Green Hydrogen, through the use of the gap analysis technique and SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). Additionally, the author uses the maudhū'i reading to interpret the findings of the Qur'anic viewpoint on the use and management of Green Hydrogen. In conclusion, this paper argues that Green Hydrogen is a novel renewable energy source that will eventually take the place of some of our current uses of alternative energy from fossil fuel in accordance with Indonesia's ambitious Net Zero Emission goal for 2050, which aims to mitigate the greenhouse gas effect. By processing water electrolysis into oxygen and hydrogen, green hydrogen is created from electricity generated by renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and geothermal. To achieve the energy revolution, five factors—politics and legislation, infrastructure, technology, finance, and socio-politics—need support from all sides. By developing these five aspects, it is hoped that Green Hydrogen will become an environmentally friendly alternative energy that is cheap and safe and easily accessible to the public optimally so that in terms of justice it can be achieved properly as stated in the Qur'an in QS. Al-Baqarah / 2: 275 & 201, QS. Al-Ma'un / 107: 1-7, QS. Al-A'raf / 7: 31 and QS. Al-Hujurat / 49: 13.
